Congratulations to our client FEED Engineering Inc. for completing Phase 1 of their Innovative Solutions Canada COVID-19 challenge to produce Made-in-Canada Compostable Elastomeric Materials for Medical Glove Manufacturing. The purpose of the challenge was to create a compostable nitrile rubber material. This advancement has a promising future in reducing the negative impact of plastics on the environment while transforming the polymer industry into a circular economy.
The FEED team accomplished the following in six months:
- Built a functioning laboratory
- Formulated a compostable polymer
- Implemented a manufacturing process
- Created samples of their next generation compostable nitrile rubber
The challenge was sponsored by the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), in collaboration with Environment & Climate Change Canada (ECCC), Health Canada (HC) and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan).
FEED continues to advance their goals to offer solutions that will build a more sustainable environment through innovative cleantech solutions.
